An Evening with David Suzuki

The British Columbia Medical Association (BCMA) and the David Suzuki Foundation recently held An Evening with David Suzuki for physicians interested in environmental health issues.

The evening followed the successful Air Issues Project launched by both organziations in May 2000 that focused on the health effects of air pollution and climate change.

An Evening with David Suzuki was chaired by Dr. Jim Lane (right), Chair of the BCMA's Council of Health Promotion. The speakers included Dr. David Suzuki, Dr. David Bates (Professor Emertius, University of British Columbia) and Dr. Robert Woollard (Head of Family Medicine, University of British Columbia).

The evening was an opportunity to:
  • Review the best available scientific evidence on the health effects of air pollution and climate change;

  • Give physicians a chance to meet David Suzuki and;

  • Network with other physicians interested in and committed to similar issues and concerns.

Over 170 physicians attended the Vancouver evening which was the first in a series of events for health professionals on air pollution and climate change.
