Parks in Peril
National Parks Region by Region
Arctic Parks:
Ecosystems in Canada's Arctic Parks are the most vulnerable to global warming because the magnitude of projected climate change is expected to be the highest.
Some parks in the Arctic may have temperature increases of an astonishing 12 degrees C by 2050. Aboriginal people in this region and species such as polar bears and caribou are already being impacted by changes in sea ice, shoreline erosion and changes in weather and vegetation distribution.
Parks in this region include:
- Aulavik National Park (Nunavut Territory)
- Auyuittuq National Park (Nunavut Territory)
- Quttinirpaaq National Park Reserve (Nunavut Territory)
- Ivvavik National Park (Yukon Territory)
- Tuktut Nogait National Park (Northwest Territories)
- Vuntut National Park (Yukon Territory)
- Wapusk National Park (Manitoba)
