Parks in Peril

National Parks Region by Region

Atlantic Parks:

As the global climate warms, the rising sea level will have greater ecological consequences in this region than anywhere else in the country. Increased coastal erosion, salt water intrusion and an increase in intense storms threaten many marine and land species that rely on the inter-tidal zone. An increase in ocean temperatures will also affect seabirds and their food supply.

Parks in this region include:

  • Cape Breton Highlands National Park (Nova Scotia)

  • Fundy National Park (New Brunswick)

  • Gros Morne National Park (Newfoundland)

  • Kejimkujik National Park (Nova Scotia)

  • Kouchibouguac National Park (New Brunswick)

  • Prince Edward Island National Park (PEI)

  • Terra Nova National Park (Newfoundland)
