The United Nations Climate Change Conference

Canada recently hosted the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Montreal. It was the biggest and most important climate conference the world has seen since the Kyoto Protocol was adopted in 1997. More than 10,000 delegates from more than 189 countries attended.

This historic conference put Canada on the path to rebuilding its international reputation as an environmental leader. Although the Kyoto Protocol is a good start, we need much deeper reductions to halt climate change and stabilize our climate.

Send a free fax to the Prime Minister and tell him to start putting Canada’s Kyoto plan to work!

A message from David Suzuki
For Canadians, our incredible natural heritage is part of who we are as a people. From the majestic Rocky Mountains to the Great Lakes to the frozen Arctic, a big part of our identity can be found in the spectacular natural landscapes that tie our country together.

But that natural heritage is at risk from climate change. How we choose to address this challenge now will shape our future for decades to come. Our health, our ecosystems, our economy, and our natural heritage depend on it. Political leaders who respond to this challenge with bold leadership will be hailed as visionaries by future generations. There’s no better time to start taking climate change seriously than right now.
