When you’re sitting on your couch watching the Stanley Cup playoffs, think about the lives of players like Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference, and Calgary Flames teammates Robyn Regehr, Rhett Warrener, and Jarome Iginla. These hockey heroes are great on the ice. But they’re also eco-heroes off the ice. They’ve joined frequent flying public figures such as the pop group the Barenaked Ladies, and David Suzuki, by going carbon neutral. As Robyn Regehr of the Calgary Flames says, “The reason I went carbon neutral is that I enjoy the outdoors and want to preserve the environment as much as possible for myself and hopefully my children one day to enjoy. Going carbon neutral has changed me by raising awareness of my everyday impact on the environment.”
