Greener cleaner There is no 'away' Check your personal (chemical) exposure Individuals making a difference Some things you can do right now Share this newsletter! Did you know people used to wear lead make-up? Take a look at the ingredient list on the stuff you’re using on your own body and hair and you won’t feel so smug. Many of those products are linked to major health concerns.Everything we put in and on our bodies is a kind of ‘chemical exposure’. Those of us who have allergies know when the body doesn’t like something; often we can choose to stay away from the offending substances. Most of us trust that what’s sold on store shelves must be safe, but it ain’t necessarily so. What to do? Arm yourself with information, buy the cleanest products you can find and, if you’re so inclined (like with household cleaners), you can make lots of cool cosmetics yourself. (Watch for recipes in an upcoming newsletter!) In the meantime, read the labels of all your body care products and do your best to avoid DEA, parabens, sulfates, petroleum, phtalates, propylene glycol, synthetic colours and synthetic fragrances. We value your voice in these important conversations. Feel free to send us comments on these or any other topics discussed in David Suzuki’s Nature Challenge. Next >> Individuals making a difference
