Separated at birth Just who does Arnold Schwarzenegger think he is? David Suzuki? For a guy who used to make a living blowing things up and uttering snappy one-liners before putting a hole in a bad guy’s chest, Arnold seems to be doing his best to rebrand himself as a progressive greenie. Since he got into office, Schwarzenegger’s managed to double California’s clean energy target, set mandatory pollution regulations for new cars and maintain the ban on offshore oil drilling. Does this mean Canada can learn from the Governator? Our environment minister Stéphane Dion seems to think so. He’s in California this week, talking to Arnold about clean car laws. And that’s a good thing, because Canadians really want cleaner cars. In fact, a new David Suzuki Foundation poll has found that nearly 90% of Canadians think that Canada should be more like California and adopt strict mandatory standards for cleaner cars.
