Give it away, give it away, give it away now
Zen and the art of summer cleaning
Don’t just sit there - DO something!
Give it away, give it away, give it away now (How to donate.)
One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. At some point you’ll face the problem of looking at a pile of stuff you no longer want. So what do you do with it?
Thankfully, there are several places to give away your unwanted stuff so it ends up in a good home.
Here’s an exhaustive list of organizations across Canada that accept donations. (You can even arrange to have larger items collected from your home.)
Before you give anything away, keep these tips in mind:
- Organizations that accept donations don’t accept everything. Call ahead to see if they’ll take the items you want to donate. Very few people want a two-wheeled tricycle or an old Walkman that mangles cassettes.
- Donating computers can be tricky business. Computers without operating systems can be a burden to charities and nonprofit groups. For more tips on donating computers, visit:

- The best things in life are free. Make someone in your community happy by posting items you no longer need on the Freecycle.org website. Membership is free, and all you need to sign up is a valid e-mail address. For info, visit: http://freecycle.org/
