Human health and the environment are intimately connected -through the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. As a result, what we do to nature, we do to ourselves. Preventing pollutants and toxics from entering our airwater and food would have a profound effect on public health in Canada.

While these simple truths seem self-evident, Canadians are poorly protected when it comes to these basics of life.

The David Suzuki Foundation believes that Canadians should enjoy a level of protection that is equal to or better than the highest standards enjoyed by other industrialized countries. But international comparisons show that Canada has fallen behind in protecting its citizens from environmental threats to their health.

The David Suzuki Foundation is promoting policies that will bring Canadian environmental health standards up to par with the best international practices.

 Sustainability Within A Generation

Sustainability within a GenerationThe David Suzuki Foundation has developed Sustainability Within A Generation, a report designed to ensure the long-term well-being of all Canadians--today and into the future. It means tackling the root causes of health and environmental problems before they occur.

The David Suzuki Foundation sees a future where Canadians won’t have to think twice about drinking a glass of tap water, eating food from their local grocery store, swimming in a local river or lake, or simply taking a deep breath of air. And future generations would enjoy the same spectacular natural heritage and quality of life that we enjoy today.
