Volunteers are a key part to the Foundation’s success and we encourage anyone wanting to make a difference for the environment to apply. We would prefer that you be based in Vancouver, but potential volunteers with a technical background and experience are encouraged to apply for the position no matter their geographic location.
Outreach assistant - Social networking sites and calendars

Are you a Facebook expert? Can you make a MySpace profile actually look good? Have you ever set up a Google Calendar widget?
The David Suzuki Foundation is looking for a volunteer to work closely with the Communications team in promoting David Suzuki's Nature Challenge and the David Suzuki Foundation in the online world.
The project will include:- Working with the Outreach Coordinator in maintaining the David Suzuki Foundation's profiles on social network sites, including posting previously created material like blogs, podcasts, and videos
- Posting Foundation events in online Calendars including Facebook, Myspace, Upcoming.org, Eventful.com, and Google Calendar
- Commenting in forums and blog comment fields with information to promote the work of David Suzuki Foundation
- Using the FAQ to direct people to authoritative Foundation web resources
- ...and assisting the team in keeping on top of emerging trends
Skills:- Be deeply steeped in web culture, including blogs, forums, and social networking sites
- Knowledge of HTML and basic graphic design skills would be super helpful, but not required
- Analytical mindset, with a familiarity with web statistics packages like Google Analytics is an asset
- Endlessly enthusiastic and positive nature
- Friendly and professional email demeanor
- Be organized and have the ability to work on your own
- Have a professional, friendly demeanor and be able to communicate effectively with staff
- Possesses good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters
