My niece just turned 18 and this will be her first election. We're all encouraging her to vote, so she opened up the newspaper to a photo spread of the party leaders.

Her reaction? "Eww."

With pre-election mudslinging reaching its peak, many Canadians might be feeling the same way. But cynical and disillusioned though many of us might feel, we must never forget that voting is important. The government we elect can make a difference in our future. And there are key differences between the party platforms.

As a charity, the David Suzuki Foundation must remain strictly non-partisan. We can’t tell you who to vote for, nor should we. That’s up to you. But to help you make an informed choice, we've surveyed each party about how they plan to move Canada towards a sustainable future. Their responses are on the following pages.

And remember, even if this election makes you go "Eww," make sure you still get out and vote on June 28. It's your future.
