Rid yourself of junk mail

Do you lie awake at night thinking about how to decrease your ecological footprint? Bargaining with yourself if its going to be a short lukewarm shower today? Or a buy nothing day tomorrow? Me too.

Well today you can get yourself OFF junk mail. You can do it all in 2 minutes on the Red Dot website because your request goes directly to Canada Post.  Getting off the junk mail bandwagon is great because of the use of paper. I doubt any pieces are printed on 100% post consumer, it takes energy to recycle the crap and they're designed to make you consume more. Check out the site. They have good stats.

Sincerley,
Your in-house eco-job-nut-bar and no, I wasn't always like this! I'm from Edmonton for God's sake!

I always thought an easy solution was to shut down the advertising business.

I never trusted it much anyway.

It devours trees and water to make us devour resources faster to keep the economy going in the name of freedom, then it gets thrown away after someone may have looked at it once. The forest companies, paper making industry and the chemical industries make a booming business while our planet looses its shade and lungs and we get polluted.

Who is the loser? Our kids.

Does the advertising business care? Good question!

The pesticide story made me think of something else.

If refusing junk mail does not reduce the number printed, then nothing has been gained.

Sounds like the chemical companies don't want to downsize once pesticide use is banned in Ontario.

Will they still produce as much and sell it overseas?

I hate to say it, but our economy is built on big bad business that pollutes the planet to death.

WHY? Good question.

They make the most money for men and they have the power to market agressively.

And some turn a blind eye.

WHO? Good question!
