Water, water...everywhere?

But for whom? And for how long?

Environmental concern and awareness seems to have gone through some kind of tipping point (hey, why not, since author Malcolm Gladwell, who coined the term, was a guest on last night's Colbert Report?).

When evangelical Christians, small-L liberals, small-C conservatives, scientists and Richard Branson are on the same side of an issue, it's not really an "issue" in the usual sense, in which people debate whether it matters or not.

To the growing list of people anxious about climate change, add eleven retired U.S. military commanders.

Canadians like to think of themselves as lucky, given those five Great Lakes and their abundance of fresh water. But global warming is having an impact there, too.

Where most see cause for concern, and a need for urgent, intelligent action, others see opportunity.

Also as a sidelight to the water question, increasing reliance on bottled water instead of fluoridated tap water is a contributing factor in what some dentists are calling the cavity comeback.

We must be very close to a water crisis. We have set up our society so we can guzzle water unconsciously.

We better start thinking now on how to save it.

One way is to stop growing man's hybrid lawn grass and convert to dutch white clover. We would save tons of water and put more leaves in the air.

Another is to build the plumbing in homes so grey water can be stored for later use. We used to store oil in tanks, why not precious water?

I think bottled water is a travesty. We will soon be buried in one-use bottles. I hate to think how much money companies like Nestles are making. Couldn't they be taxed to cover the recycling

and the extra dental work?

With the way all the conservative, liberal and ndp federal , provincial, and civic governments have let corporations spew toxic and pollute into the environment in the name of corporate greed, it is no wonder that cavities are coming back, as more and more people turn to bottled water.

It looks as if those con, lib and ndp governments have all let out water purification systems rot so corporations can sell us all bottled water.

After all it looks like all the water everywhere is now polluted, with a vast number of toxic stuff, even rainwater.

Name one river where you would willingly drink all your water from, unfiltered, unboiled and untreated. . .
