He is everywhere this
summer. He's on the TV. He's on the streets. He's in your ....
basement?
Dr. Suzuki and Ontario's PowerWISE have rolled out a
summer campaign promoting energy efficiency.
Did you know operating that
old, half-empty refrigerator in your basement costs $150 a year?
Everyone in Ontario knows, because the ads are inescapable!
Perhaps you've seen the billboards?
Or the
public service announcements on TV?
Remember to
unplug that old, empty refrigerator.
Dr. Suzuki
is a busy guy and doesn't have the time to do
it for you!

David Suzuki is an absolute genius. I have a great deal of respect for everything he says and does.

Mr. Suzuki, there is a severe problem with the new bulbs. They do not seem to last the time they are supposed to last. After a year of use, which in most cases is less than 500 hours, retailers look at you in a funny way when you bring back a bulb that has burnt out and you no longer have your receipt. More to the point a receipt does not prove anything to the retailers as any consumer may bring back any bulb and ask for replacement. This has happenned to me 3 times in the last 3 months. I have started changing bulbs in the house over the lsast 12 to 15 months and 3 of them burnt. From 3 different sockets. Also 1 bulb was GE manufacture while the other 2 were Noma. If it came out of the same one I would have the fixtures checked for defective wiring etc.. but this is not the case. How do you figure manufacturers/retailers can resolve this situation? There may be savings in money and energy but at the price these bulbs sell for I cannot forsee saving in my near future at this rate of failure.
Since you are a promotor of these bulbs, how do you see this situation resolved?
Thanks
Ivonne
I believe in david suzuki, if we all try a little to improve our environment, a lot it can be done.
Just lets try a little bit harder and spread the word.
