Can I Get A Amen?

Environmental evangelists.

Concern about global warming is truly universal. For an example of its reach as an issue, read this page one story in the Washington Post about the growing number of evangelical Christians in the United States who are taking real action on the environment -- particularly in reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

This environmental movement has been making headlines for a few years now -- most memorably, perhaps, in 2002 with its "What Would Jesus Drive?" campaign. But its numbers and commitment have continued to grow. Just last year, Joel C. Hunter, one of its leaders, was a leading candidate to head the Christian Coalition. He turned that opportunity down because of his dissatisfaction with the group's stand on global warming and environmental stewardship.

As another evangelical environmentalist, Richard Cizik, puts it: "When I die, God isn't going to ask me 'Did I create the Earth in six days or five days?" but, 'What did you do with what I gave you?' "
