Photo: Changes to solar rates undermine renewable energy development in Ontario

The David Suzuki Foundation has signed onto this letter from Ontario's Green Energy Act Alliance, which protests the announced rate reduction for some small scale solar energy installations under the province's microFIT program. The Ontario Power Authority's refusal to grandfather the large backlog of applications for small-scale ground-mounted solar arrays at the price in effect when the applications were submitted has undermined businesses confidence in Ontario's feed-in tariff program, and threatens the locally-based manufacturing and installation jobs that the Green Energy Act was intended to stimulate.
