David Suzuki is celebrated by his friends and family every March 24. Why? Because it's his birthday! Since this year is a particular milestone — he's turning 75 — the cities of Vancouver and Ottawa are both officially declaring March 24, 2011 David Suzuki Day.
In their appreciative pronouncements, both Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson and Jim Watson, mayor of Ottawa, recognized David's contributions as a science educator and broadcaster, the 52 books he's written, and the important work done by the David Suzuki Foundation, which David co-founded. The Vancouver proclamation calls David "one of Canada's most trusted and recognizable figures, celebrated internationally" and highlights his numerous honorary degrees and awards, and his long and distinguished career at the University of British Columbia.
Congratulations, David, on this worthy achievement. (Here at the Foundation, every day is David Suzuki Day!).
