We did it! We spent 30 minutes in nature each day during the month of June.
And we didn't do it alone; more than 1,200 eager participants joined the 30×30 Challenge. Hundreds more submitted great photos of their daily dose of nature.
From the stories and images shared about everyone's newfound time spent in nature, it is clear that we don't need to travel far to find green space. We all found creative ways to get our dose of nature each week by hanging out in local parkettes and backyard gardens, taking a run or walk in a park, and holding meetings and lunch breaks in nearby green space. On weekends we paddled, gardened, hiked, birded, planted and picnicked our way to the end of the 30×30 Challenge.
What is the pay off? According to this great infographic, getting outside is good for us in so many ways. It makes us feel happier, healthier and more connected with the natural world that surrounds us — even in our busy urban lives. And we hope this strong connection with nature will not only make us healthier, but will also motivate us to live more lightly on the planet.
So, thanks again for everyone that completed the 30×30 Challenge.
And while our first 30×30 Challenge is over, we encourage more folks to get their daily dose of nature. Feel free to start your own personal 30×30 challenge — or better yet, challenge your friends, neighbours or colleagues to join you for the next 30 days. And let us know about it by emailing us or sharing with our Facebook group .
