Thank you the more than 5,000 people that spoke up for Ontario species in January! The feedback we sent the Ministry of Natural Resources on its proposal to exempt industry from the Endangered Species Act made a big difference.
Due to the overwhelming response from concerned citizens, the Ministry has reposted the proposal for public comment. This time the proposal is more specific. And sadly it confirms our fears that the Act is going to be dismantled.
Now more than ever, Ontario species need our voices. Please take a few moments to share your comments.
You can formally submit via email with "EBR Registry Number: 011-7696" in your subject line. Deadline for comment is February 25th 2013.

We encourage you to tell the Government of Ontario that:
- Exemptions to the Endangered Species Act should be for specific exceptions, not entire industries;
- The Act should not be weakened to merely minimize adverse effects; and
- Government should maintain rigorous oversight of all development in the habitat of species at risk.
Please CC rplotkin@davidsuzuki.org so we can keep track of responses.
Thank you for giving our badgers, caribou and monarch butterflies a much-needed voice!
