Aileen, Community Giving volunteer

Ever wondered what someone brave enough to follow her true calling looks like? Meet Aileen, David Suzuki Foundation volunteer!

After she started a career in television and film, two stints volunteering in Rwanda significantly changed Aileen's life course. Newfound passions inspired her to obtain a bachelor's degree in political science and an associate's degree in peace and conflict studies when she returned to Canada.

Aileen then searched for opportunities in the non-profit community and found her love of nature and alignment with the David Suzuki Foundation mission to be a perfect fit.

Working with the Foundation's Community Giving team, Aileen embraces the opportunity to augment her personal and professional communication skills.

She says her favourite part of volunteering is working with an upbeat, positive, fun group of people and always leaves feeling great:
"I walk away with a smile and laugh after every shift, which I believe our whole development team and volunteer group contribute to—so much fun in our little pod!"

The David Suzuki Foundation is thankful that Aileen's path lead her to us. We sincerely appreciate her contributions.
