I met David Suzuki when I was 5. He signed my cast while in hospital in 1978

The highlight of my years working at the IMF came down to David Suzuki’s response to one economist’s statement/question wanting to know “How ?” undeveloped cultures could possibly afford to become good environmental stewards of their native lands and resources. To be “Green” is a very expensive proposition and therefore we need to bring them into the global market where the exploitation of their resources would provide them with the needed capital to implement sound environmental policies. I was close enough to the front to see Suzuki’s face redden, and his whole body and voice quake as he summoned up his perfect put down by describing a tribe in New Guinea and how they had happily lived in harmony with their surroundings since time began.

My work involved the mamgement of their facilities and therefore had nothing to with their policies. As much as I could, I took advantage of opportunities to attend open lectures, of which, this one topped all the rest.

Thank you David, for the wisdom you have shared.

When I saw David Suzuki speak in Edmonton about ‘The Japan We Never Knew’ book tour, I learned that passion can motivate, that education can justify, and that your voice will say what needs to be said. Easily recognize and then disregard the charlatans, seek out the people that have seen what you have seen, and power the discussion.

What is special about David’s work is that we are seeing the terrible consequences of humanity’s inaction. It’s not too late, as long as we add our voice.

David Suzuki has been a motivating forces throughout my life from the first moment I watched Nature of Things on CBC. I applaud his efforts to teach us to live with not against nature. I applaud his willingness to stand against a government that treats him and his fellow scientists as traitors. I can only hope that more people listen and make the changes necessary to live a sustainable life with nature. Thank you Dr. Suzuki.

We are a the part of the great circle of life that has caused the most damage to all around us! It is time to restore balance so that our children and generations to come will enjoy the beauty of the creator.

We do not own the land we have borrowed from future generation.

This is fun! I am beginning to assemble a library about the environment that I plan to share with my church group and co-workers. This will be a welcome addition to that. If I don’t win, it seems I should go out and get it anyway. Anything David Suzuki has to say about nature is worth sharing.
