Who doesn't love a deal? (Credit: Cameron Russell via Flickr)

We can't shop our way out of this mess, but at some point we all need to buy something — be it a new pair of underwear or a gift for a special someone (hello, Christmas is only 17 days away). Now wouldn't it be nice if there were coupons or deals for "green" stores and products?

Luckily, there are.

Here is something you can do today!

Join the ethicalDeal. Today only, you can save 52 per cent off the David Suzuki Foundation's On-line Store just in time for holiday gift giving.

The David Suzuki Foundation's on-line store is full of unique presents that are easy on the environment and keep giving long after the holiday season. These exclusive gifts are great for friends, family, or that awkward gift exchange at the office. You'll find something for even the pickiest eco-warrior.

Rally up your inner activist with the Playlist for the Planet CD ($20), or show your support with a groovy organic cotton t-shirt ($34 available in men's and women's). Let the little ones know what it means to be green with a Baby Hybrid Onesie ($22) that proudly states "I'm a hybrid: half cute/half gas!" You can also green some stockings with the Nature in the City calendar ($25), or gift someone a pair of adorable Hankies ($20 for a package of 2).

How to redeem:

1. Buy the ethicalDeal today — Tuesday December 7th
2. Browse for your products online
3. Place your order on Thursday, December 9th (make sure you order by the 11th to guarantee shipping by Christmas!)
4. Enter your ethicalDeal voucher # into the coupon code field when you check out of the David Suzuki Foundation's online store!
5. Enjoy your new David Suzuki products!

Here are somethings you can do all year long!

The Green Zebra guide is another great coupon book of local savings for sustainable living in the Lower Mainland of BC. With over 250 coupons, you can find eco-friendlier products, sustainable restaurants, and more. (Note: the Green Zebra guide is produced by TB vets and can be purchased for $20.)

Finally, "green" gift giving ideas wouldn't be complete without mentioning re-gifting. I think it is couth in this day and age. It also doesn't have to detract from being gracious about a gift you may have received. I mean, if you know someone who can put an item to use, why not pass it on?

How do you find savings when it comes to more sustainable purchases? Do you re-gift?

Sincerely,
Lindsay Coulter, Queen of Green
