Photo: Better back-to-school giveaway 2: Green, cool and back-to-school

This $300 back to school giveaway will have all the neighbourhood kids (and their parents) convinced that green is, indeed, cool!

Last week when the Better Back to School Brigade kicked off with our ten top tips for a better back to school, waste-free lunches were the hot topic — especially among the families with young kids! So we dedicated a bonus blog to getting started and promised to kickstart one lucky family into litterless lunch blissdom, with a $200 waste-free lunch giveaway (enter until September 2).

This week the Better Back To School Brigade is taking on green school supplies — and it's time to show the big kids some love. Terra 20 over this amazing prize pack, which has been sitting on my desk all week and has the whole office drooling. Your teenagers are going to love this. But they might have to arm wrestle you for it!

Here's what's up for grabs in this Better Back To School giveaway:

House of Marley Headphones ($200): Marley products are sustainably crafted from earth-friendly materials including our exclusive REWIND™ fabric, cotton and canvas textiles, recycled plastics, recyclable metals, bamboo and Forest Stewardship Council-certified woods. Of course, the result is stunning!

I am a childcare provider. My “kids” are involved in choosing and making their own, healthy lunches and packing them as litter-less lunches. This way, they are pretty much guaranteed to eat them and they are learning to make responsible, healthy choices for themselves.

Education is the only way to initiate change. As the twig is bend so grows the tree. Love to win eco products, naturally.

This is a wonderful idea to giveaway stuff for older “kids” at the time when the little ones go off to school!

This is a great giveaway! Our kids are a bit young for school, but when our 4 year old was going to junior kindergarten, we packed up litter-less lunches in her stainless steel container, and snacks in cloth bags that sealed with velcro.
I know my husband would love to upgrade his work gear this September, and he would love those headphones! We’d probably give the notebook to our daughter who loves to “write” stories about pandas, penguins and koalas.

Awesome package! We are trying to reuse as many supplies as we can each year. If you invest in good quality (and even better- Eco minded and made) binders, pencils etc. last a long time. Using reusable water containers and other containers help with what is not going in the garbage. Also, we try to buy Eco and socially minded clothing.

Love the lip balm, but it can be just as sustainable and eco-friendly to make your own! Beeswax, vitamin E, a little jojoba or apricot oil, maybe even a tiny drop of (edible) essential oil if you like scented balms — melt, mix, and place in a clean and dry re-used lip balm tube or pot :-)

My back to school tip is start making your children go to bed earlier the week before school starts and make list as to what is needed so when school starts you’re not so frazzled.

I think back to school is always easier if you are prepared You will only be able to maintain litterless lunches if you have the containers and meals ideas ready to go. Decide before hand the lunches for the week and prep them on the weekend so during the week the lunches are quick easy delish
