Aquaculture Campaigner
The Aquaculture Campaigner builds public, scientific, government and industry support for the Marine and Freshwater Conservation Program’s sustainable aquaculture goals and supports aquaculture related work within our sustainable seafood campaign. The Campaigner works collaboratively with the marine conservation team and our allies on existing strategic plans and develops and implements new strategies and tactics that will achieve campaign goals and objectives. Salmon aquaculture is a current primary focus, with other aquaculture species also in the portfolio. Travel will be required.

You will develop and implement outreach, research and campaign activities to build awareness and support for sustainable aquaculture goals. This involves supporting and conducting negotiations with stakeholders at local, national and international levels. You will initiate, plan and deliver outreach projects and events, including developing project schedules, proposals and budgets. Initiatives include working with the team to develop a national strategy for aquaculture and seafood. You’ll work on coordination and negotiation with scientific, regulatory and certification efforts aimed at defining and achieving sustainable aquaculture. Researching and writing for a variety of projects, reports, briefing notes and other documents plus identifying media opportunities is part of the portfolio.

Skillset
You have a degree in Sciences or Resource Economics plus four years of successful campaign experience and strong knowledge of ecological economics, aquaculture/fisheries and related marine conservation issues. Well-developed influencing, negotiating, networking and alliance-building skills are essential. With sound written and verbal communications skills, you’re confident and motivating--skilled at presenting to large audiences. You’ll work with a dynamic team with periods of high pressure activity so the ability to manage and prioritize your workload to meet deadlines is required. The ability to speak Spanish or French is an asset.
