Link to Mission: As a national environmental organization, the David Suzuki Foundation (DSF) is seeking to enhance its French language capabilities. To support our west coast staff in becoming more fluent, we are seeking a fun, energetic French language tutor for the Vancouver office.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Meet with staff supervisor to discuss priorities and confirm program outline
- Prepare a 6-week language program for beginner-intermediate French speakers
- Host a fun and interactive 1-hour class each week, focusing on conversational French
- Prepare handouts and class materials as appropriate
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Fluently bilingual (English/French)
- Experience teaching a second language
- Experience with adult students preferred
- Friendly, patient and fun
- Commitment to the mission of the DSF
Reports to: Aryne Sheppard, Manager of Volunteer Services
Time Required: 1 hour per week in class for 6 weeks, plus prep time (approx. 20 hours total)
Weekday afternoons, 4:30-5:30 preferred
Orientation and Training Provided:
All volunteers will be oriented to the foundation on their first day.
