VICTORIA, B.C. -- Starting today, six women will bike 7,500 km across Canada, from the west coast of Canada to the east ending in St. John's, Newfoundland.
These women are not athletes, and they are not hardcore environmentalists. They are average, everyday people who care about our planet’s future.
Their mission: to raise awareness of climate change across Canada and to raise $50,000 for the David Suzuki Foundation. Funds raised through the ride will be allocated to the Foundation’s climate change program.
The cyclists are encouraging Canadians to send postcards to the federal government to let Canada know "climate change is an issue that requires immediate action from all Canadians." The cyclists are also accepting donations in person, or through their website, to help this cause.
