Ever since author and long-time Toronto resident Jane Jacobs published The Death and
Life of Great American Cities in 1961, urban-dwellers have paid more attention to city planning. And they should. Decisions at city hall can have large effects on where we live, work, and play. A city like Toronto, for example, would look very different today if the subway hadn’t been installed.
