The David Suzuki Foundation and Watershed Watch Salmon Society support the successful implementation of Canada's Wild Salmon Policy. The Wild Salmon Policy can serve as a solid foundation for the conservation and restoration of Pacific salmon for the benefit of all Canadians. This report builds on the efforts of the David Suzuki Foundation report, Returning Salmon, and focuses on the integration of knowledge and people in salmon management. This integrated planning is critical to the effective implementation of the policy and requires increased efforts from the federal government and management participants. The report provides valuable insights on the use of knowledge frames, including the inclusion of traditional and local knowledge, that supports building trust and engagement of management participants. These insights inform not only effective Wild Salmon Policy implementation, but also other ecosystem and species-based management efforts.
